MIGRANT DESTITUTION FUND GM – URGENT APPEAL

The Migrant Destitution Fund GM supports destitute migrants in Greater Manchester who are not entitled to work or access state benefits. After reopening in April 2020, the Fund has been a lifeline throughout the Covid crisis to those forced into destitution because of where they come from. From fresh food to phone credit and data, the fund has helped people access essential items that many of us take for granted, and that are crucial for physical and mental wellbeing.

I was able to call my family. It’s my first time to be able to get a phone card to call my family. The first time! It made me cry. – Ruvimbo, asylum seeker, destitute for 7 years

As we head into a bleak and uncertain winter, the fund is needed more than ever. Not only is the Covid crisis deepening again, but the Home Office – far from relaxing the hostile environment – is once again evicting asylum seekers and cutting their support.

With no end in sight to forced destitution, the fund urgently needs your help – we’re looking for 250 regular monthly donors who can help support some of the most vulnerable people in our society through the difficult months ahead. Could you be one of our 250 heroes?

Thanks to everyone who is taking care of us, who helps on behalf of us.

Thank you very much for the Fund. It is helping us to keep on going. God bless you. – Ruvimbo

Between 27th October and 9th November your donation will be DOUBLED by Local Giving.
