We thought this young man was rough sleeping, but the first two times we tried talking he didn’t want to discuss any of his circumstances. Next time we spoke – to ask how we may be able to help – he gave his name. John.

John still didn’t reveal any other details, but during this conversation the very poor state of his trainers came up. We explained that Big Change could help him buy decent boots to keep his feet warm and dry. We got his shoe size and asked him to think about the offer.

Next time we saw him, John gave us details of his circumstances and said he would like help.
